Filtration scientists attribute surface loading of dust with lower operating pressure drop over a much longer period of time. This means less energy is required to pulse off the dust and allows the filter to perform longer. Conversely with other types of filters, pressure drop starts higher and continues to rise quickly, which shortens the life of the filter and uses more energy.

Ultra-Web’s surface loading of dust promotes self cleaning. Dust particles collect on the nanofiber surface while the substrate stays clean. A depth-loading filter allows dust to penetrate deeply into the substrate where they build up and choke off the airflow.
