Manufacturing processes generate submicron dust—from welding and cutting fumes, smoke and toner to paint pigments, insecticides and pharmaceutical compounds. Compared to other typical cellulose or 80/20 blend filters, standard Ultra-Web rated MERV 13 provides 40% lower emissions on 1 micron dust and 58% lower emissions on 0.5 micron particles.
Selecting a filter with the right MERV rating for your application is key to filtering submicron dust and lowering emissions. Filters are rated on an ASHRAE 20-point scale and filters must be rated at least a MERV 13 to filter submicron dust.
